Lent at First Christian

Lent is upon us.  It begins on Ash Wednesday.  On this Ash Wednesday, we began by celebrating with the Spirit of St. Stephens Catholic Community, which began sharing worship space with us on March 1.  It was a wonderful service filled with song and times for prayer and contemplation.

The community at First Christian Church invite you to take part in our Lenten journey.  There are several events taking place that we would love for you to take part in:

  • Lenten Prayer Circle. Beginning March 1 and lasting throughout the Sundays during Lent (March 1-April 5) we will be meeting at 9:30 in the morning for reading Scripture, reflection and prayer.  It is a time for us to quiet and center ourselves after a busy week and during a busy time.  So, please grab a cup of coffee and meet us in the nook near the Narthex (the front of the church) from 9:30 to 10am.
  • Sunday Worship. The theme for our Sunday worship services during Lent will be on the theme of covenant.  In a time when we have lost trust in financial institutions and the government, how can we learn to be a community that is in covenant with God and each other?  Find out each Sunday at 10:30am.
  • Minnesota FoodShare. During the Sundays of March, we will collect non-perishable food items for Minnesota FoodShare statewide campaign that aids food shelves accross the state of Minnesota.  We will be supporting Groveland Emergency Foodshelf, a ministry that First Christian has supported for 30 years.  Please consider bring your cans of food, or make a donation.  We have a coffee can where you can place your spare change.  Make some change for the better.

We hope to see this Sunday at First Christian Church, a “thoughtful church in the heart of the Cities.”
