2009 Advent Devotional: December 9
December 9: Luke 3.1-6
Max Hurlocker
Our God’s salvation is the great equalizer of all. There are powerful kings, rulers, and governors; and then there is John the Baptizer who brings to us, through the sign of baptism, a message of the coming Messiah and life-changing forgiveness. What an incredibly joyous message! New life! A fresh start! Forget the past and embrace the future. It’s a message that begs to be shared with everybody.
We are challenged to remove all obstacles that deflect or in any way impede the spread of that message of salvation. Move the mountains, fill the ditches, level the ruts, and straighten the curves that block the way to Jesus. It’s a blessed time, a blessed place. Pass it on!
Prayer:
Forgiving God,
Remove the stumbling blocks from our paths and the paths of others. Help us to share the glorious message of the grace and peace available to all through our Lord and Savior. Amen.
