2009 Advent Devotional: December 11
December 11: Isaiah 12.2-6
Pat Dunlop
“Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things;
Let this be known to all the world.
Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion,
For great is the Holy One of Israel among you “
Lord, as we walk with you through this Advent season, may we have songs of joy and peace constantly ringing in our ears and stirring our souls. Make our prayers odes of joy, and thankfulness, for all the good gifts we have received. Even when times are difficult, and things look bleak, help us to hear the strains of Handel’s Messiah, that we may shout out Hallelujah, that our prayers may soar. And in the quiet times, as we listen for your voice, may you come to us in such soft lullabies as loving parents sing to their most precious children. For we are preparing for the wondrous coming of that most precious gift, the Christ child; God presented to us in human form, who loved so deeply that he would sacrifice his all so that we might hear glorious strains from heaven and be lifted up as on eagles’ wings.
May we find God’s music in our hearts and minds this Advent season and throughout all our days. Amen.
