Pastor’s Lenten Blog — Day 3 (on time)
Today is my Sabbath, my day off. I try, sometimes not very hard, to stay away from the office/church on Fridays. Staying away from work-related thoughts is something different, however. A sabbath is supposed to be a day of rest and reflection; however, I seem to use my day off to get other stuff done — laundry, errands, and other personal things.
I find, though, that I use a lot of time each and every day to ponder about God, life, and living. I’m not exactly sure if that’s “work-related” though I don’t really care if it is or isn’t. It certainly is “life” related. A lot of it is questioning: “God, what is it that’s going on here?” That’s the usual form of question. God, practical joker that She is, doesn’t answer directly very often, so I must assume that, when I ask the question, I’m supposed to use my God-given gifts to discern what’s going on. Sometimes I can, sometimes I can’t, but either way, working on what’s going on stretches my soul, which may be the point of asking the question in the first place.
May God bless all of our days with answers to our questions.
