Pastor’s Lenten Blog — Day 9

I had two encounters today with people going through struggle — one electronically and one in person.  It was my day off, but in my experience, at least, I don’t take a day off from being a Christian.  Listening, responding, trying to care, and most importantly, trying to be a vessel of Christ, even if a lot of the time I haven’t a clue whether I’m doing so or not.

I may never encounter these folks again, nor does that matter.  The point of the encounters, as near as I can figure out, is to be genuinely me, and to try to be genuinely Christian in the midst of the circumstances.

Sometimes we worry too much about what we do ahead of time, rather than just being who we are in the midst of the times we’re in.  If we truly trust in God, God will provide the opportunities to share Christ with others.
