Take Part in “Backpack Sunday”

The new school year is just around the corner and many parents are heading to local stores to stock up on school supplies for the children.

However, some families are not able to pay for all the school supplies that their son or daughter might need.  In order to be of help to those who are making ends meet, First Christian is partnering with Central Lutheran in downtown Minneapolis to provide backpacks filled with school supplies.

Between August 22 and September 12, we are asking folks to purchase a backpack and fill it with the following school supplies:

• pens,

• crayons,

• pencils,

• notebooks,

• blank paper,

• glue,

• scissors,

• binder,

• markers

On September 12, we will bless the backpacks which will go the Restoration Center, Central Lutheran’s social justice ministry.  We encourage all children and youth to bring their own backpacks so that we might bless them and their owners as they prepare for the new school year.
