Transition Team hosting forums to hear, discuss ideas

By Bob Brite, Transitional Pastor

As the Transition Team continues to work on our future, we’ve reached the point where the Team wanting to go public with a few ideas to see what you might think about some of them.  With that in mind, this Sunday (August 29) the church is going to have a mini-forum following worship to see what you might think about them, gauge your opinions and the like.

This is coming ahead of a more full-blown presentation and forum sometime in September or October, where we’ll take a straw-poll on the possibilities.  In anticipate that a final congregational decision on direction will take place sometime in the winter, and the work can begin on implementing the decision after that point.  We’ll either be meeting this Sunday in the sanctuary or the Hearthstone room; that’s a point to be determined.

In the meantime, we’re gearing up for fall.  The search is progressing for an interim choir director and interim organist, and we plan on the choirs to start rehearsing on either September 1 or 8.  We’ll be offering two adult Sunday School classes, one taught by Mike Brady and Jay Hillestad, and the other, a Bible study on Luke’s gospel geared towards younger adults that I’ll be teaching (though anyone is welcome).  There is as well the

continued Art of the Covenant kid’s class, and we’re working on an adolescent group as well.  On Wednesday nights, Dennis will be leading a spirituality study.  My observation on all of this is that it’s beginning (again) to look a lot like Church here.

I’d like to see YOU on Sunday,

Bob
