A chance to get acquainted with options for FCC’s future
The Transition Team continues its work on two fronts: Researching buildings to which we can make a solo move, and ecumenical partnership with Salem Lutheran and Lyndale United Church of Christ. The Team (with the help of Max Hurlocker – thank you, Max!) mapped out the probable size of worship space at the 26th and Blaisdell location in our sanctuary, and we are asking folks to sit in that space over the next several Sundays to “get acquainted” with a smaller size.
We are also, this next Sunday, “getting acquainted” with the folks from Salem/Lyndale in a joint worship service at Intermedia Arts just south of 28th and Lyndale, which is their current temporary meeting space.
We also, on November 14, will have a congregational forum with people from Salem/Lyndale so that they can acquaint us with their plans for the permanent space at 28th and Lyndale. They will be conducting tours of both spaces in the coming weeks. The general plan at this point is, once the tours are conducted, to have another congregational forum to talk through both site locations to get a sense

of where the congregation might feel like their future in ministry would best reside, then put forward a specific proposal for the Board and then congregation to deal with in December and January.
One of the concerns of the Transition Team at this point is the sense that the church needs to have a pretty strong sense of direction one way or the other, and what to do about it if such is not apparent; they will probably recommend to the Board that a supermajority (60% or 67%) be needed from the congregation in order to proceed with either particular direction. That puts the power of the decision directly in the congregation’s hands, which is where it should be! Please continue to pray for the congregation, the Board, the Transition Team, and the staff as we continue moving us towards the future.
