Christian Formation

First Christian’s motto is “A Thoughtful Church in the Heart of the Cities.”  Christian Formation, learning what it means to follow Jesus, is an important part of the life of this faith community.  Here is a list of available  experiences that will help you grow in your faith or become acquainted with Christianity.  Everyone is welcome no matter if you have been a Christian since birth or don’t believe in God at all.  Questions are encouraged!
Art of the Covenant: This is our new art-based program for children up to age 13.  Deb Murphy will lead this class where kids will draw, paint, sing and write about God.  There is a youth component being worked out as well which will start in the near future. The Children’s class takes place on Sundays at 9:15 am in the Youth Room.

Adult Bible Study: Led by Jay Hillestad, this class also meets on Sunday mornings where people study a specific book in the Bible.  They are currently studying Colossians.  The class meets at 9:15am on Sundays in the New Hearthstone Room.

Wednesday Lectionary Study: This group study focus on the lectionary texts for the upcoming Sunday and studies them.  This study meets every Wednesday at 6pm in the Lounge.

Men’s Lectionary Study: This is a similar lectionary study for men  that meets at 9am on Saturday morning in the Lounge.  Afterwards, the men take part in church maintainence. Think of it as Nortre Dame Cathedral meets Home Depot.
