Once on This Island is a coming-of-age one-act stage musical that is a Caribbean-set retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Little Mermaid. It concerns a peasant girl in the French Antilles who falls in love with a rich boy and makes a deal with the gods to save his life. Jimmy Tucker and Moxie Tucker are both in the show! He’s a narrator, she’s the Earth Goddess.

Come hear stories of winter, Christmas, and Hannukah told in word and song! Favorite repertoire items from Apollo’s 129-year history will be included along with traditional carols, works by Mordechai, Undine Smith Moore, and Handel, and brand new compositions. The concert will end with our performance of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” from the musical mind of Harry Simone — the same version made famous by Fred Waring and His Pennsylvanians. You won’t want to miss it! Tyler, our bass section leader, sings in the choir and is the associate conductor.
