Nine Disciples of Christ will gather at Standing Rock on January 5, 2017. Pastor Laurie and our Regional Minister, Bill Spangler-Dunning will be part of this gathering. Rev. David Bell, Yakima Christian Mission, is organizing the trip. He shares that the trip will be “a quiet time of centering, though not necessarily quiet. A time to listening, though not voiceless. A time of wonder. And a time of prayer.
I look to our time together, not only because of what this means to the landscape in which we live, but also because this is one of the first events (from Disciples inception) where Disciples from North America, who do not know one another will have come together to stand and pray for Native justice; and that matters!” Please hold those gathering in your prayers.
