What is Fall Retreat?
Each autumn women gather for a weekend away from their everyday lives. We learn, pray, sing, play, rest and build relationships (let someone else make our meals). We enjoy the beauty of the change of season on the shore of Lake Koronis. We are touched by each other’s stories and we might shed a tear or two and almost certainly will laugh a lot! The Retreat is yours for what you need – activities, rest, learning, enjoying nature, reading, craft projects and being with other delightful women!
Who is it for?
The Retreat welcomes young women (upper teens), great grandmothers and all that come between. We come from around the Upper Midwest (MN, IA, SD, ND)… and we like to carpool! We gather as members and friends of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and those open to building relationship with us and with God.
What is this year’s theme? This is Who I Am!
Our Speaker-Rev. Melissa Guthrie will help us in taking pride in our belovedness and celebrating the belovedness of everybody in the Body of Christ. A reference of our theme for the weekend is “Colors of Hope”.
This year’s book for the Book Study (one of the breakout sessions): Becoming Eve by Abby Chava Stein
Mission Opportunities—
—We will be helping to complete tablecloths for LGBTQ+Alliance. These are being signed at General Assembly and we will be embroidering the names. More details to follow.
—We will be collecting socks and underwear for kids. These will be divided between MN and IA and donated to local shelters in each state.
Music- Bring your instrument and your voices.
Based on our smaller numbers and other groups scheduled at the camp, Koronis has asked us to only use Sunrise rooms this year. Most of you already stay in doubles, but we will likely need a few folks to cozy up with 3-4 in a room. Please note in the Special needs/Requests section if you are willing to have 3-4 in your room. We know that there is an extra cost for Sunrise rooms. Partial scholarships are available to help defray the difference in room cost between Pine and Sunrise – Please reach out to Anna Bliss at akb@pobox.com if you are in need of a full or partial scholarship this year.
