Our biennial Disciples family gathering, General Assembly, will be taking place July 20-24 in Des Moines. First Christian Church will be receiving the Stewardship Award at the Christian Church Foundation Banquet on Tuesday evening, July 23. Pastor Laurie is one of the co-presenters/planners for Advocacy, Activism and Organizing for Justice: How Can My Congregation Get Involved? (Monday, July 22, 1:30-4:30 PM) and is one of the planners for the Disciples Public Presence action at the Iowa Capitol on Wednesday, July 24; Pastor Dan is overseeing all of the shuttle transportation for the assembly and serving on the Local Arrangements Committee.
There will also be an Upper Midwest Region All-Congregational Gathering Sunday afternoon, Jul 21 at 4:00 PM to honor and say goodbye to our regional minister, Rev. Bill Spangler-Dunning.
