2015 Mission Trip — Camp Jack Norment
July 28 – August 11, 2015
Camp Jack Norment has the only programs of its kind found in Paraguay in areas of outdoor ministries, ecology, and leadership development. The transformational impact of Camp Jack Norment is far reaching. For example, the Paraguayan government has used the camp as a model for other social programs in the country. During the summer, camps are held for children, youth, young adults, and families. Several times each year groups of working and street children who have a relationship with the Disciple ministry, Friendship Mission, attend Camp Jack Norment outside of the city for weekends of fun, fellowship, and formation. On July 28th, 25 people from SpringHouse left for a Mission Trip to Paraguay supported by the resources and prayers of Salem Lutheran, Lyndale UCC and First Christian. While in Paraguay they worked and stayed at Jack Norment Campamento, in Caacupe, founded by the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). They worked alongside the people of Paraguay and planted trees; varnished chairs, tables, the wood on the outside of the office/cantina, chair swings; painted doors, window frames, playground equipment and logs on which to sit; cleaned moss off stone steps and walkway and many other tasks that were needed. The Mission Team visited the amazing Iguazu Falls in Brazil which is one of the World Heritage Sites.
They learned more about the people of Paraguay by visiting different villages around Caacupe and by staying several nights in homes of members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) churches in Asuncion, the capital of Paraguay.
