We believe that God is love. We proclaim and celebrate Jesus Christ as the son of the living God
who offers saving grace to all and whose Spirit is at work through us.

Because we believe the body of Christ is not complete until all people are included at the table, we welcome, affirm and embrace individuals of any background, ability, economic status, ethnicity, culture, race, gender identity or sexual orientation. People of all identities are included, without reservation, in full fellowship and leadership in our church.

Wherever we are in our faith journeys, we come together to worship, pray, learn, listen, share, play, and minister with one another. As disciples of Jesus Christ, who actively cared for all people, we strive to serve the local and global community, especially where there is hunger, suffering and brokenness.

In the spirit of our Disciples heritage, we value individual and congregational freedom of belief
and gather with our differences, united by and in Christ alone.

~Revised Mission & Vision Statement, October 2020

First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Minneapolis is a vibrant, growing community located in the Whittier neighborhood and bordering the Lyn-Lake business district of Minneapolis. The Whittier Neighborhood is rich in diversity, with people from many nations and races who represent a multiplicity of spoken languages, and also is the home of “Eat Street” (Nicollet Avenue), one of the most diverse dining districts in Minneapolis.

We live out our mission & vision statement in a variety of ways:

  • We partner with a variety of community organizations meeting basic needs in the areas of hunger, homelessness, refugee services, LGBTQ+ community partnerships, and others. We also partner with national, denominational and international organizations. Learn more
  • FCC is an Open and Affirming ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and partners with Disciples LGBTQ+ Alliance, called to join in God’s work of transforming the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) into a just and inclusive church that welcomes persons of all gender expressions and sexual identities into the full life and leadership of the church.

During some of our worship series, members of our congregation shared why they are a part of First Christian Church. Click on the links below to hear their stories.

Worship:

  • Our service starts at 10:30 am and lasts around 75 minutes to 90 minutes. We lean towards a traditional style of worship. You will hear music from various traditions, engaging sermons, and the opportunity to bring joys and concerns to God and the church community. No dress code, just a lot of love, something for the kids, and, as part of our Disciples tradition, we offer communion every Sunday. The bread and cup, God’s meal, is offered to everyone, no matter where you are on life’s journey. We offer worship onsite and online/on-demand through our LiveStream channel, which you can access by clicking here.

Fellowship/Congregational Ministries:

We offer a variety of online community fellowship opportunities:

  • Coffee With The Pastors: Wednesday and Saturday mornings – 9:00 am
  • Happy Hour With The Pastors: Tuesday and Thursday afternoons – 5:00 PM
  • Game nights and other social events sponsored by our Deacons
  • Seasonal Adult Education opportunities

Child Ministries:

  • Currently, the SpringHouse Child Ministries program is on hiatus and in the process of being reimagined Fall 2024. Child care is offered from 9:30 – Noon each Sunday in the Squiggle Space.

Location/Denomination:

We worship at  SpringHouse Ministry Center with two other congregations, Lyndale United Church of Christ and Salem English Lutheran Church. SpringHouse is a different way of sharing ministry together, where three congregations share one building doing ministry and mission in the neighborhood and wider community.

First Christian Church is a congregation within the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. As part of the one body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord’s Table as God has welcomed us. Learn more about the Disciples.

We are a part of the Christian Church in the Upper Midwest, the regional expression of the wider church. Located in Newton, Iowa, the Upper Midwest Region hosts a beautiful Christian Conference Center where young and old gather for camps and retreats. This is also the location of the Regional Office.

Come join us Sunday morning. Sing with us. Pray with us.
Come to Christ’s Table. Don’t forget to stay for coffee and fellowship.
Come to where you can explore, be curious, and ask questions…a place where ALL are truly welcome.
