Lu Zang, our bass choir section leader, and Yunyue Liu, Church Pianist, will present Winterreise on August 17 at 7:00 p.m. This recital is part of the Twin Cities Early Music Festival Series, and will take place at the Landmark Center Recital Room in downtown Saint Paul. Landmark Center is located at 75 5th Street West, and the room is located on the 2nd floor. Tickets can be purchased online here or at the door.
Winterreise (Winter Journey) is a song cycle for voice and piano by Franz Schubert (D. 911, published as Op. 89 in 1828), a setting of 24 poems by Wilhelm Müller. It is the second of Schubert’s two great song cycles on Müller’s poems, the earlier being Die schöne Müllerin (D. 795, Op. 25, 1823).
