Max Yeshaye Brumberg-Kraus (MFA, MA) is a Twin Cities based, interdisciplinary artist practicing drag, theatre, poetry, ritual arts, creative scholarship and public theology. Max is the artistic director of the House of Larva Drag Co-Operative, with whom they have performed countless full length and one act experimental drag shows across the country. Max has also wrote and directed Circe: Twilight of a Goddess (Siren Island, Point San Pablo, CA, 2021) and wrote the book for the Pickup Truck Opera Faust (Mixed Precipitations, MN, 2024). They are the author of The(y)ology: Mythopoetics for Queer/Trans Liberation (punctum books, 2023) and the collection of poetry Visions of Divine’s Love: a Drag Theopoetic (AC Books, 2024). Max received their BA from Beloit College in Theatre and Classics, an MA in Theology and the Arts from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, and an MFA in Interdiscplinary Arts from Goddard College, where they wrote their thesis/portfolio “Visonary Seeds: Art, Cosmic Empathy, and the Transformation of Consciousness. In their work, Max uses art to foster pluralism, guide spiritual formation, connect community with land/place, explore gender and sexuality, and investigate moral ambiguity across lines of religious difference.
