It’s been a while – March, 2020, was the last time FCC folks were together in person! Our first live and in-person gathering will be this one-day Mission at Our Doorstep event!
Date: Saturday, July 24
Place: North Mississippi Regional Park, 5116 N Mississippi Dr, Minneapolis 55412—in the covered picnic area
Time: Gather starting at 10:30 am—ends around 2 pm
Food: We will have a Dignity Center lunch: all food provided! Bottles of water will be provided; bring any other beverage you wish. (Note–the park does not allow alcohol.)
Activities: We will be assembling Health Kits and Bags of Grace; all supplies provided. The park has a wading pool for children. Perhaps there will be dancing??!!
Attention Children! Deb will have special mission activities for you to enjoy at the Gathering. Come ready to have fun!
What Can I Bring? As part of Mission at Our Doorstep this year we are collecting items for The Dignity Center as part of the Align Mpls spring/summer campaign. The Dignity Center is an interfaith outreach ministry through Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church with whom First Christian partners to support people in poverty find housing stability. New or gently used items needed are:
- Backpacks for adults
- Toiletries
- Pots and pans
- Microwavable containers
- Bedding (blankets, sheets, mattress pads—full or queen size)
Masks? Please follow the CDC guidelines as to whether or not you have been fully vaccinated. Remember that we have children who are not yet able to be vaccinated.
Anything else I should know? Just HAVE FUN meeting in person again! Formal dress not required!
