The Rev. Cody J. Sanders, Ph.D., is associate professor of congregation and community care leadership at Luther Seminary. He earned his Ph.D. from Brite Divinity School at TCU in Fort Worth, TX, and served for several years as pastor to Old Cambridge Baptist Church in Cambridge, MA, and chaplain at both Harvard University and MIT before moving to Minnesota. He has published several books including, most recently, Spiritual Care First Aid: An All-Hands Approach for Church and Community (Fortress, 2025). He lives in Saint Paul with his partner, also named Cody, and their dog Captain.
