Once again we have the opportunity to join millions around the world in a day of prayer from Maundy Thursday to Good Friday. While the time is for each of us to have an uninterrupted dialogue with God, this prayer chain also links us to many other Disciples around the world who will also be doing continuous praying.
What am I signing up for? A half hour of prayer; you may sign up for more than one slot if there is one available.
Where should I be to do this? Anywhere you are—at home, atSpringHouse, in a hotel, camping in the woods, on a mountain…anywhere you feel a sense of sanctuary.
When does this take place? Continuous prayer will be from 8 PM on March 28 (Maundy Thursday) until 3 PM on march 29 (Good Friday).
Why would I sign up? It is a time for you to put aside all worldly interruptions and concentrate on a connection with God during this holy season –as well as to feel a connection with Disciples everywhere. You are welcome to pray, read the Bible, listen to music, read poetry—do whatever form of prayer you find that connects you with God.
A Lenten Prayer:
Holy God, I will lean in, retreat from the pressures I face, and move closer and deeper into your love. I will breathe out, refrain from the distractions I seek, and become open and receiving of your grace. I will linger, encircled by the depth of your care, and receive the endless nature of your mercy. I will whisper, in the quiet of this sanctuary, and be honest and real in your presence. I will listen, awaken all my senses to your voice, and become expectant and hopeful of your kingdom at work in my life. Amen.
