Hello SpringHouse Beloveds,
First things first, it has been SO wonderful meeting many of you these last several weeks. I am looking forward to getting to get to know you all more, continue to participate and learn more about the quirks of each congregation, and meeting those of you who I have not had the pleasure to meet in person yet!
Since I started my role as the Youth Minister last month, I have been meditating on 2 Corinthians 5:17 — Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! The word became flesh and has come to make all things new, beginning with each one of us, the community of SpringHouse, and the future of SpringHouse youth group. My vision for SpringHouse youth ministry is rooted in this idea of transformation and new creation, and I am embracing this season of creation and transformation with wide open arms.
That being said, I am really excited to get the ball rolling and reimagining youth group together! This Sunday, 4/2, I will be making the peeps dioramas from 9:30-10:15am (come and join me!) and will be holding open youth room hours from 11:30am-12:30pm. Starting next Sunday on 4/8, I will be holding open youth room hours from 9:00am-12:30pm each Sunday. Other than the times where I will be in a worship service (I rotate between Lyndale, Salem, and FCC each Sunday), I will be in the youth room with some treats and invite youth and their families to stop by. We can hang out, get to know each other, brainstorm ideas, activities, and visions for youth group, or I could easily be convinced to take a group of youth over to Milkjam!
Youth and families are welcome to come and stay for as long or as little as they would like. At this time, I’m opening up youth group to those in 5th-12th grade, but if you have a youth in your family who is not yet in 5th grade but has maybe aged out of Sunday School, they are also welcome to come!
Again, I cannot stress how excited I am to lean into this transformation of youth ministry at SpringHouse and to create all things new with all of you.
