Hi all, my name is Jon Bates and I am so excited to be a part of the Springhouse Ministry Team.
I was born and raised in Shoreview, MN. There I grew up with my parents, Ray and Malu, and two older sisters Katy Jo and Becky and grandma. growing up I was surrounded with Filipino food, bike rides, and karaoke machines.
In 2011 I began my college career at St. Cloud State University for two years where I was changing my major quicker than my shoes. Which led to a transfer of school to Augsburg College (at the time) where I received a degree in Youth and Family Ministry in December 2015.
After graduation I was led to Billings, Montana for a position as the Director of Youth, Family, and Education Ministries at Atonement Lutheran Church. I was there from June 2016 until this past August when I moved back to Minnesota to be closer with family. So now, I am only a 20 minute drive to a majority of my family! Since returning I also began a new position with the Star Tribune as their Digital Media Customer Support Specialist.
When I’m not working you can probably me outside enjoying the outdoors before it gets too cold, drinking coffee, being with friends, strolling through Target, napping, and enjoying the occasional Netflix marathon.
I’m jazzed about what the future looks like as we all continue to walk with each other in faith, love, and justice.
